Updated: Aug 8, 2023

July 26, 2023 – The Rotary Club of Pago Pago received honors from its parent organization Rotary International, this week. The club received the 2022-2023 Rotary Citation award, which was presented by Past District 9920 Governor Allan Smith.

“I want to take this opportunity to congratulate the Rotary Club of Pago Pago on achieving the milestones that were set and, therefore, achieving the RI President's Citation,” said Smith.

“Note that you were 1 of 2 clubs within the district to achieve this milestone,” he added.

As noted on the Rotary International site, the Rotary Citation awards recognize the hard work clubs do throughout the year. Working to achieve the citation goals helps clubs engage their members, stay relevant in their communities, and run more efficiently. The award is given to Rotary Clubs worldwide that meet annual goals and objectives. When clubs achieve citation goals, they contribute to the overall health and culture of Rotary for generations to come.

"This award is a culmination of the 2022-2023 board's tireless focus on Service Above Self and the efforts of our Rotary Club of Pago Pago family. There is a saying, 'If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together!’ I am honored to be part of the journey of Rotarians that go far in service together. Malo lava!,” said Rotary Club of Pago Pago's Immediate Past President Katrina Mariner, under whose direction the club served in the last Rotary year.

Current President (Queen) Cherith Soliai joined in the celebration. “Wonderful achievement, RCPP! Good job!,” she said.

This is not the only accolade the club has received recently. DG Allan Smith also awarded Rotary Club of Pago Pago with the Publicity In Action Award. Read all about it here.
